Know Riverside.
Riverside is the county seat of Riverside County and the most populous city in the Inland Empire, with 314,998 residents in the 2020 census. It takes its name from its position beside the Santa Ana River. The University of California, Riverside occupies the northeast part of town, and the historic Mission Inn anchors downtown alongside the Fox Performing Arts Center. Mount Rubidoux rises at the western edge. Three Metrolink stations and Amtrak's Southwest Chief serve the city by rail. Many residents commute toward Orange County and Los Angeles on crowded freeways. We cover downtown, the UCR area, La Sierra and the freeway interchanges.

Three ways we help.
Riverside climate, by the numbers.
Riverside's climate table shows August highs averaging about 95°F and December lows near 43°F. The article describes a semi-arid climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters, about 22 days a year reaching 100°F, and freezing temperatures on only a few nights. For EVs, summer cooling is the main drain. Heat also shortens the life of 12-volt batteries, a frequent cause of calls in late summer.

Riverside roads we cover.
The main route to Orange County. Evening commute traffic is notoriously slow.
Runs east–west toward Ontario and Los Angeles. Meets 91 and 215 at a big interchange in the northeast.
Heads north to San Bernardino and south toward Perris and Temecula.
When a Riverside charger lets you down.
Long commutes on the 91 mean many Riverside drivers arrive home low and charge in the evening, so stations near the freeways fill after work. In summer heat, waiting in a queue drains the pack further. If your planned stop is down and the next is a long detour through traffic, call us instead of gambling.
Where we meet you in Riverside.
Downtown and the Mission Inn
Historic blocks around the Mission Inn and the Fox Performing Arts Center have public garages and metered streets. Give us the garage name or the block.
UC Riverside
The university sits in the northeast part of the city near the Hunter Park Metrolink station. Campus lots are permit-only. Give us the lot number and nearest building, and let campus parking know your car is disabled.
La Sierra and the 91
The western neighborhoods sit along the busy 91 corridor near the La Sierra Metrolink stop. When the freeway jams, surface routes fill too. A map pin from a commercial lot helps our driver find you quickly.
Mount Rubidoux and the river
The landmark hill on the west side draws walkers early and late. Its parking is limited. If your car will not start after a hike, give us the trailhead name or nearest intersection.
The 60/91/215 interchange
This multi-level junction in the northeast was rebuilt in 2007, and its merges are short. Running out there is dangerous. Exit before you reach it if your range is low, then call from the nearest lot.
Metrolink lots
Three commuter rail stations serve Riverside: Downtown, La Sierra and Hunter Park near UCR. Commuters leave cars there for long days, and summer heat drains idle 12-volt batteries. Give us the station and the row. We can usually reach these lots quickly from the freeway.
Along the Santa Ana River
The river trail and parks along the city's edge are popular for walks and rides. Lots there are small and sometimes unlit. If you are stranded after dark, share a pin and keep your hazards on.
I-215 north and south
The 215 heads toward San Bernardino one way and Perris the other. Long stretches between interchanges make it a poor place to run low. Exit early and give us the exit name.
Fox Performing Arts Center nights
Shows at the downtown theater end together, and nearby garages empty onto the same few streets. If your car is low after a performance, stay inside for a few minutes, then call with the garage name and level. Downtown streets clear fast, and our tech can usually reach you from the 91.
Riverside Sports Complex
The university sports complex hosts games that fill nearby lots on evenings and weekends. If your EV is low after a long game day, wait for the main exodus, then call with the lot name. Campus roads clear quickly once the crowd leaves.
Before you call
Have your plate, model and charge level ready. Say whether the car powers on. Mention kids, pets or heat risk first. If anyone is in danger, call 911 before us.
Range in Riverside.
The 91 commute
The route to Orange County is among the slowest in the region at rush hour. Leave with extra margin, since crawling in heat uses more energy than expected.
Heat days
The article counts about 22 days a year at 100°F or more. A parked car in the sun keeps cooling its battery, and range falls while you shop or work.
The big interchange
Where 60, 91 and 215 meet in northeast Riverside, merges are tight. Exit before the interchange if your range is nearly gone.

Tesla Model 3
Picture a commuter on the 91 at 7 a.m., the Model 3 left on 15 percent overnight, crawling toward Orange County until the range warning flashed. In this example, the driver would exit and park before calling. A technician would supply enough charge to finish the trip to a station. An illustration.

Chevrolet Blazer EV
Imagine a student returning to a Blazer EV that will not start after sitting in August heat. In this scenario, a technician would jump the 12-volt and check the pack. Hypothetical.
