Know Allentown.
Allentown is the seat of Lehigh County and Pennsylvania's third-largest city, with 125,845 residents in the 2020 census. The city covers about 18 square miles. Jordan Creek and the Little Lehigh Creek meet inside the city and flow into the Lehigh River. South Mountain, part of the Appalachian chain, rises to the south. Hamilton Street, named for colonial deputy governor James Hamilton, is the main downtown corridor. The Hamilton Street Bridge, built from 1812 to 1814, was the first bridge across the Lehigh. Much of the park system came from industrialist Harry Clay Trexler, including Trexler Park, Cedar Parkway and the trout nursery in Lehigh Parkway. During the Revolutionary War, Allentown also hid the Liberty Bell. For EV drivers, the city is compact, but its creek valleys, river crossings and the I-78 corridor shape how stranded trips happen.

Three ways we help.
Allentown climate, by the numbers.
Allentown has a humid continental climate with warm, muggy summers, mild springs and falls, and cold winters. January averages 30.1°F and July averages 75.6°F. The record low is −15°F on January 21, 1994, and the record high is 105°F on July 3, 1966. Seasonal snowfall averages about 33 inches, and February is usually the snowiest month. For EVs, winter is the main issue: cold packs lose range and charge more slowly, and snowy creek-side lots can leave cars stuck.

Range in Allentown.
Creek valleys
Jordan Creek and the Little Lehigh run through parkland in shallow valleys. Lehigh Parkway roads wind along the water and have limited shoulders. Note the nearest parking area or bridge so a technician can find you.
Snow on South Mountain
The article reports about 33 inches of seasonal snow, with February the snowiest month. Roads climbing toward South Mountain can be slick. With a low battery, choose flatter routes and keep extra margin for heat.
Park trails and lots
The city's trail guide places the Lil' Le-Hi Trout Nursery at 2910 Fish Hatchery Road, at the start of a trail through Lehigh Parkway. It also lists the Parks and Recreation office at 3000 Parkway Boulevard. Those addresses make useful reference points when calling.
Eighth Street Bridge
The Albertus L. Meyers Bridge carries 8th Street over the Little Lehigh. When it opened in 1913, it was the longest and highest concrete bridge in the world, at 2,650 feet long and 138 feet high. A stalled car on that span has nowhere to go, so if the battery warning appears on the approach, turn off before the bridge and call.
Center Square and the 1848 fire
Center Square, where the Northampton Bank opened in 1814, is the traditional center of downtown. On June 1, 1848, fire destroyed the business district on Hamilton Street between 7th and 8th streets, and brick buildings replaced the wooden ones. Downtown blocks are still tightly built, so the nearest numbered cross street is the best way to describe your location.
Canal and rail by the river
The Lehigh Canal, finished in 1829 on the river's east side, carried anthracite toward Philadelphia and New York. The city's first railroad followed in 1855 on the west bank. Those routes shaped how the city grew along the Lehigh. If you stop near the river, give the closest bridge as your reference point.
Allentown roads we cover.
The most prominent highway through the city, running east-west across the south side with PA 309. Long-distance truck traffic leaves little room to stop safely.
North of downtown, US 22 serves the commercial area where Lehigh Valley Mall opened in Fullerton in 1976. Ramps and merges get busy at shopping times.
Center City's main street crosses the Lehigh River near the site of the first bridge, built from 1812 to 1814. Downtown traffic and signals slow trips, though distances are short.
When a Allentown charger lets you down.
Allentown is compact, so another charger is usually close by, but getting there may mean crossing the Lehigh River or climbing toward South Mountain. If a station is down and you are nearly empty, do not count on a bridge crossing or uphill drive. Park somewhere safe and call. A short mobile charge solves the problem without adding risk.
Hypothetical, on real roads.

I-78 eastbound near the PA 309 overlap
Ford Mustang Mach-E
Imagine a driver heading east toward New Jersey in heavy truck traffic, battery dropping on a cold night. In this hypothetical, they would leave I-78 at the next ramp, stop in a lit lot and phone us. Dispatch would quote $175 and a mobile charge would cover the trip to a station.
Lehigh Parkway lot after snow
Subaru Solterra
Picture a hiker returning to a car stuck in an unplowed parkway lot near Bogert's Covered Bridge. In this example, the technician would quote a $200 winch-out and check the 12-volt battery. This is a scenario, not a job record.
