Mobile charging for Nissan
Connector
Nissan Leaf uses CHAdeMO for DC fast charging plus a J1772 inlet for AC charging. Ariya uses CCS1, and Nissan has announced J3400 (NACS) adoption for future models.
Charge port
Leaf has both inlets in the nose of the car under a front flap. Ariya places its port on the front passenger-side fender.
Charging behavior
Leaf batteries are passively cooled, so repeated DC fast charging on a hot day can slow charging. A CHAdeMO-only DC car may need AC charging from equipment that supports it.
- Leaf owners finding few working CHAdeMO stations on a route
- Older Leaf packs with reduced capacity
- Heat-related charging slowdowns on long trips
Connector and port details vary by model year and market. Your owner’s manual is the final word.
