Know Montgomery.
Montgomery is Alabama's capital and the seat of Montgomery County, set beside the Alabama River on the Gulf Coastal Plain at about 220 feet of elevation. The 2020 census counted 200,603 people. The city formed in 1819 when two river towns merged, became the state capital in 1846, and served briefly as the first Confederate capital in 1861. A century later it was a center of the civil rights movement, from the bus boycott to the 1965 march from Selma that ended at the Capitol. Today it holds state agencies, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama State University, Auburn University at Montgomery and Hyundai's assembly plant. The east side along Atlanta Highway is the fastest-growing part of the city, which spreads traffic far from downtown.

Three ways we help.
Montgomery climate, by the numbers.
Montgomery's climate is humid subtropical, with short mild winters and long hot, humid summers. The source gives a January daily average of 46.6°F, with only a few nights a year below 20°F, and a July average of 81.8°F. Spring brings the greatest risk of severe storms, hail and tornadoes; the 1945 tornado on the west side caused a citywide blackout. For EVs, summer cooling demand is the bigger range drain than winter cold.

Montgomery roads we cover.
The main north-south freeway, toward Birmingham and Huntsville in one direction and Mobile in the other. Long rural runs on either side mean leaving town low is riskier than driving within it.
The interstate ends here and heads northeast to Atlanta. Inside the city it runs east-west, past Alabama State University and Jackson Hospital near Oak Park.
The Selma to Montgomery march route follows US 80 through Lowndes County into the city, according to the National Park Service. Stretches west of town are rural with few services.
The east side's growth corridor through Dalraida, a neighborhood developers began in 1909. Retail traffic and signals here add slow miles on a draining pack.
Range in Montgomery.
Heading toward Selma
The NPS says cellular service exists in most nearby communities and along some highways but that coverage gaps exist across the region. If you are driving US 80 west on the trail, start with a full charge and note mile markers before signal drops.
Long, humid summers
July's daily average is about 81.8°F in the source article, and thunderstorms bring much of the rain. Waiting in a hot car at a full station costs energy for cooling. Shade and a bigger buffer both help.
Downtown and the river
The 2007 master plan focused on Court Square and the riverfront. Downtown events can tie up nearby blocks, so give us a cross street and a landmark like Union Station when you call from that area.
Bus boycott streets
Montgomery's civil rights history is written into its transit map. The source article notes that African Americans made up most city bus riders yet were forced to give up seats, which set up the 1955 boycott, and that a white mob attacked Freedom Riders at the Greyhound station in May 1961. Downtown streets around Dexter Avenue and Court Square now draw heritage visitors on foot, so expect walkers and tour groups when we meet you there.
When a Montgomery charger lets you down.
Montgomery's fast chargers tend to cluster near shopping areas, while growth is pushing homes east along Atlanta Highway. If the station you were counting on is full and the next one sits across the city, do not gamble on reaching it with five miles left. Stop, call, and let a $175 top-up cover the distance. If charging is not the answer, we arrange a flatbed at $150 plus $10 per mile.
Hypothetical, on real roads.

I-85 eastbound past Oak Park
Tesla Model Y
Imagine an Atlanta-bound driver who skipped a charge downtown and now has three miles left near the Jackson Hospital exits. The right call would be to leave the interstate, stop in a safe lot, and request a $175 charge to reach the next station before the long rural stretch.
US 80 west toward Lowndes County
Ford F-150 Lightning
Picture a visitor following the march route who underestimated the round trip. With patchy signal, the driver would call from the last spot with coverage. A technician would add enough range to return to Montgomery. A hypothetical illustration, not a past job.

01Do you serve the east side and Pike Road area?
We take calls across Montgomery. East side addresses may take longer than downtown, and we give you a realistic window on the call.

It is $175, usually good for 25 to 50 miles, or $195 if the starter battery also needs a jump.
04Can you get onto Maxwell Air Force Base?
Base access is controlled. If you are on base, check with security first, or meet us outside the gate if the car can move.
05What about tire trouble?
A tire change is $130 if you have a usable spare. If not, we can arrange towing at $150 plus $10 per mile.
