About Las Vegas

Know Las Vegas.

Las Vegas is the most populous city in Nevada, with 641,903 residents in the 2020 census, set in a basin on the floor of the Mojave Desert and ringed by mountains. Its name, Spanish for the meadows, refers to the springs that once fed the valley. Much of the famous Strip actually lies just outside city limits, but downtown holds the Fremont Street Experience, a canopied five-block stretch lit by millions of LEDs, opened in 1995. Red Rock Canyon rises to the west, and Harry Reid International Airport serves the valley. We cover downtown, Summerlin, the northwest and the arterials that tie the valley together.

Las Vegas climate, by the numbers.

Las Vegas's climate table shows July highs near 105°F and lows around 82°F, with December lows close to 40°F. The article describes a subtropical hot desert climate typical of the Mojave, with long, extremely hot summers and mild winters. For EVs, cooling loads in summer are heavy day and night, and parked cars lose charge. Winter costs little range.

Area by area

Where we meet you in Las Vegas.

Downtown and Fremont Street

Garages near the canopy fill at night. Give us the garage name and level. Shows run until midnight, so streets clear late.

Summerlin

The planned community west of downtown spreads toward Red Rock Canyon. Distances are long. Share a pin and expect a slightly longer wait.

Northwest and the beltway

Newer neighborhoods sit along CC 215. Fast chargers are fewer. Exit the beltway early when range drops.

Near the Strip

The resort corridor lies mostly outside city limits, but we still cover it. Give us the property and garage level.

Red Rock trips

The conservation area west of town has limited services. Charge fully before you go, and turn back early if needed.

Sahara Avenue

SR 589 marks a busy east–west line near the southern city limits. Traffic is heavy at all hours. Find a lot rather than stopping in a travel lane.

Lake Mead Boulevard

SR 147 runs east–west across the north side of the city. Commercial lots line much of it. Pull into one when range drops, and give us the nearest cross street.

US 95 northwest

The highway runs toward the northwest neighborhoods and beyond. Long stretches between exits. Exit early when range drops.

Charleston Boulevard west

The arterial runs toward Red Rock. Shopping centers line the route. Pull into one and give us the cross street.

Downtown events

Concerts and festivals downtown add to the usual nightly crowds under the canopy. Garages fill fast and streets close. If you are low after a late show, give the area half an hour to clear before calling with your garage and level.

Rancho Drive

One of the few diagonal routes in a mostly grid city, Rancho Drive runs northwest from near downtown. Its angled intersections can confuse directions. Give us the exact cross street.

Nellis Boulevard edge

The eastern city limit runs along Nellis Boulevard. Addresses past it may be outside the city, but we still serve them. Share a pin.

Summerlin Parkway

SR 613 connects the core to the western suburbs. Exits are spaced widely. Leave early if the range warning appears, and call from the first lot.

Before you call

Have your plate, model and charge level ready. Say whether the car powers on. Mention kids, pets or heat risk first. If anyone is in danger, call 911 before us.

Highways & corridors

Las Vegas roads we cover.

I-15

The route to Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. The run south to California is long, hot and lightly served.

I-11 / US 95

Crosses the city and continues toward Henderson and Boulder City.

CC 215

The beltway loops the northwest and west sides.

SR 613

Summerlin Parkway links downtown and Summerlin.

Las Vegas Blvd

One of the few non-grid streets, running from downtown toward the Strip.

Where you might need backup

When a Las Vegas charger lets you down.

Busy chargers near downtown and the resort corridor serve tourists, rideshare drivers and residents at once. On hot evenings, a queue means a car cooling itself while you wait. Drivers heading out on I-15 toward California face long gaps. If the station you need is down and you are low, call us.

Driving notes

Range in Las Vegas.

The I-15 run

The drive to Southern California crosses open desert with long climbs. Leave with plenty of charge, especially in summer.

Heat records

The article notes a record 120°F at the airport on July 7, 2024. On days like that, never leave people or pets in a car that might lose power.

Grid streets

Most streets follow a grid, making it easy to give us a cross-street location. Use the nearest major intersection when you call.

Example calls

Hypothetical, on real roads.

Illustrations only. Not records of real jobs.

Example call

I-15 southbound toward Primm

Tesla Model Y

Picture a Model Y leaving town on a 112°F Sunday with traffic crawling south, the range shrinking faster than planned. In this example, the driver would leave I-15 at the next interchange and phone from a gas station lot. Our technician would restore enough miles to continue to a charger. Illustration only.

Example call

Fremont Street parking garage

Mercedes EQS

Imagine an EQS that will not start after a night downtown, its 12-volt flat in the summer heat. In this scenario, the fix would be a jump of the small battery plus a quick startup check. Hypothetical.
