Mobile charging for Rivian
Connector
R1T and R1S vehicles built to date use CCS1 for DC fast charging and the J1772 portion of the same inlet for AC. Rivian has announced a move to the J3400 (NACS) port on later models, so newer vehicles may differ.
Charge port
R1T and R1S place the port on the driver-side front fender, ahead of the door.
Charging behavior
Large packs mean a short top-up adds a modest percentage. Rivian's drive modes and tire choice affect consumption noticeably; all-terrain tires and roof loads shorten range.
- Towing a trailer, which can cut range sharply versus the dash estimate
- Off-road trips that end farther from fast charging than planned
- Cold-soaked packs charging slowly at the first stop
Connector and port details vary by model year and market. Your owner’s manual is the final word.
