Know Aurora.
Aurora is the third-largest city in Colorado, with 386,261 residents in the 2020 census, spread across Arapahoe, Adams and Douglas counties east of Denver. It has a long military history: Fitzsimons Army Hospital opened in 1918 and is now the Anschutz Medical Campus, while Lowry Air Force Base straddled the Denver border from 1938. The city manages more than 100 parks and over 6,000 acres of open space. Much of Aurora is spread out, with newer neighborhoods reaching toward the plains along E-470. That layout means long distances between neighborhoods and many trips that depend on freeways. For EV drivers, the outer edges are where buffers matter most.

Three ways we help.
Aurora climate, by the numbers.
Aurora has a semi-arid climate with four distinct seasons and modest precipitation. Summers are mild to hot, with low humidity and frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Winters bring cold snaps and snow that can come and go quickly. For EVs, cold mornings reduce range, and summer storms can make shoulder stops unpleasant.

Aurora roads we cover.
Crosses the north side of the city toward Denver and the eastern plains. Heading east means long gaps between services.
The north-south connector between I-70 and I-25 through the middle of Aurora. Rush hour slowdowns near the medical campus use cabin energy while idling.
The toll beltway around the eastern edge. Exits are far apart, so leaving it with a low pack can mean a long wait on a wide shoulder.
When a Aurora charger lets you down.
Aurora's chargers cluster around retail centers, while newer neighborhoods stretch east along E-470. If the station you counted on is busy or down and the next one is miles away, stop somewhere legal and call before the battery chooses for you. A $175 top-up is usually less than a flatbed at $150 plus $10 per mile over these distances.
Range in Aurora.
State park inside the city
Colorado Parks and Wildlife lists Cherry Creek State Park at 4201 South Parker Road in Aurora, with 35 miles of trails, 15 of them paved, around the reservoir. Lots there can be busy in summer; tell us which entrance you used.
Tornado season
The source article says Aurora averages about a dozen tornado warnings each season from April to July, though touchdowns are uncommon. When warnings are issued, shelter first and call once they lift.
Rail lines
RTD's H and R lines serve the city. If your car stops near a station, a station name is the fastest way for us to find you.
A thousand feet of elevation
Aurora's official elevation on city-limit signs is 5,471 feet, but the city spans nearly 1,000 feet: 5,285 feet where Sand Creek leaves in the northwest and 6,229 feet on the southern edge in Douglas County. The southern neighborhoods sit noticeably higher, and the climb from the north side uses more energy than flat-plains driving suggests.
Lowry and Fitzsimons
Lowry Air Force Base opened in 1938 on the Aurora-Denver line and closed in 1994 before redevelopment. Fitzsimons hospital treated World War II wounded and later hosted President Eisenhower for seven weeks after his 1955 heart attack. Both sites are now busy civilian districts with large garages.
Open space edges
The city runs more than 100 parks and six municipal golf courses. Star K Ranch links to the Sand Creek Greenway, DeLaney Farm with its historic round barn reaches the High Line Canal, and the Plains Conservation Center protects 1,100 acres of shortgrass prairie. Those trailheads are far from fast chargers.
Wetlands and reservoirs
Jewell Wetland is a 50-acre park with wooded wetland trails, and Quincy Reservoir sits on the southeast side. These quiet spots have small lots and no chargers, so arrive with a buffer, especially in winter when cold cuts range on the way home.
Employers and garages
Beyond the medical campus, notable employers include Lockheed Martin, Staples, United Natural Foods, Graebel Relocation, Core-Mark and Nelnet. Office parks and distribution sites spread across the city, and cars left all day there in winter are frequent no-start calls.
Historic sites
The city manages 27 historic sites, including the 1870 Gully Homestead, the 1890 Centennial House, the Art Deco KOA Building of 1934 and the 1902 DeLaney Round Barn. They sit in different parts of the city, so name the site when you call.

Aurora, answered.
01Do you serve all three counties?
We take calls across Aurora. Outer neighborhoods may take longer, up to 90 minutes. We give an honest window.
02Can you help on E-470?
We will come, provided you are stopped clear of traffic. Exits are far apart, so call early.
03What does a charge cost?
A charge visit is $175 and adds around 25 to 50 miles; the combined jump and charge is $195.
04Can you pull me out of snow?
Yes, a winch-out is $200.
05Do you tow?
Yes. A partner flatbed costs $150 to start plus $10 a mile, which adds up fast from the eastern edge.
