Know El Paso.
El Paso is the seat of El Paso County and the largest city in West Texas, with 678,815 residents at the 2020 census. It sits on the Rio Grande directly across the international border from Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. The National Park Service recounts how the shifting river once left the boundary itself in dispute, a problem settled when a new concrete-lined channel was built through the Chamizal tract. The Franklin Mountains split the city, with West-central El Paso north of I-10 and west of the range, the Northeast and East sides beyond it, and the Mission Valley along the river. Highways stitch these areas together: I-10, US 54 (the Patriot Freeway), Loop 375, Montana Avenue and Paisano Drive. For an EV, that means long distances between sides of town, mountain grades and desert heat. We respond across all of them, from downtown near the bridges to the far East side.

Three ways we help.
El Paso climate, by the numbers.
The El Paso article notes that snowfall varies by neighborhood elevation and averages only a couple of inches a year, though the 1982–1983 season brought three major storms. It also records extreme cold in early February 2011, when the high on February 2 was just 15 degrees Fahrenheit and the low the next morning hit 1 degree. Most of the year is dry and hot, so cooling demand is the usual range drain, but cold snaps can cut range sharply.

El Paso roads we cover.
The spine of the city, running from the west side through downtown and out through the East side. The article lists a stretch of it among the most congested roads in Texas in 2009.
The Patriot Freeway, known locally as 54 or the North-South Freeway, runs to the Northeast side. Long and fast, it rewards keeping a buffer.
Wraps around the city, including the route around the Franklin Mountains. Grades and distance between exits make it a bad place to cut range close.
Range in El Paso.
Mountain in the middle
The Franklin Mountains separate West-central El Paso from the Northeast. Crossing them means a climb that the range estimate may not anticipate. If you are under 15 percent, charge on the side you are already on.
Near the border
Downtown sits close to the international bridges, with heavy traffic at peak times. If your car stops in a queue, stay with it, turn on hazards and tell dispatch exactly which approach you are on.
Congested corridors
The article named North Zaragoza Road, Lee Trevino Drive and a stretch of I-10 among the most congested roads in Texas in 2009. Slow traffic in heat drains range steadily; plan a stop before those stretches if you are low.
A mountain park inside the city
The article says Franklin Mountains State Park covers 24,000 acres entirely within El Paso, one of the largest urban parks in the country. Together with Fort Bliss and El Paso International Airport, it divides the city into separate sections. That is why a trip from Kern Place near UTEP to the Northeast can take far longer than a map line suggests. Plan charging on the side of the mountains where you will spend the day.
Mission Valley history
Three Spanish missions in the Mission Valley still function as churches: Ysleta from 1682, Socorro from 1759 and the San Elizario Chapel from 1789. Visiting them means a drive southeast along the river corridor, away from downtown chargers. Charge before setting out, and note each parking area as you go.
Kern Place game nights
After UTEP basketball and football games, fans fill the Kern Place area and the small Cincinnati Street bar district, close to the airport, the border and Fort Bliss. Street parking there is scarce on those nights, so give dispatch the block.
When a El Paso charger lets you down.
With the mountains in the middle, a charger on the other side of town can be a long drive away even when it looks close on a map. If the nearest station is down and the next one means climbing around the Franklins on Loop 375, a near-empty pack may not make it. Pull off safely and call before you try.

Loop 375 around the mountains
Kia EV9
Imagine a driver crossing from the West side to the Northeast on a hot afternoon, watching the estimate drop on the grade. Rather than continuing over the top at 3 percent, they would stop at a safe pull-off and call for a top-up.
I-10 eastbound in the Mission Valley
Chevrolet Blazer EV
Imagine a commuter stuck in slow traffic near Zaragoza with the air conditioning on and the pack nearly empty. Exiting to a lot and calling, the driver would get enough range for the rest of the trip.

El Paso, answered.
01Can you help me near the international bridges?
On the U.S. side, yes, where it is safe to stop. We do not cross into Mexico.
02Do you cover the Northeast and East sides?
Yes. Both are part of El Paso. The mountain route affects arrival time, which dispatch will explain.
03How much is a mobile charge?
It is $175, which typically restores 25 to 50 miles, enough to get from the East side back across Loop 375 or into the Northeast.
04What if my 12-volt and pack are both dead?
The jump-and-charge bundle is $195 and covers both.
05Can you tow from Loop 375?
Yes, by flatbed through partners. $150 plus $10 per mile.
